Run Claude Code on your own server

The AI agents module creates an isolated workspace on your server: its own user, SSH access, a persistent tmux session and Claude Code, started with the claude command. The agent runs on your own Anthropic API key.

01 — features

The panel sets up Claude Code for you

Installation, sandbox, key and version are managed by the panel, not by the workspace.

01

The official repository

Claude Code is installed from Anthropic’s official signed apt repository, and the repository key’s fingerprint is pinned in the panel.

02

Settings set by the panel

The key, the sandbox and the ban on auto-update are set by the panel’s policy. The workspace cannot override it.

03

No sandbox, no start

The sandbox is mandatory: if it is missing, Claude Code won’t start rather than run without isolation.

04

The key arrives through a socket

The agent gets the API key on request through a socket: it is neither on the workspace disk nor in environment variables. Each workspace gets only its own key, or the server’s shared key.

05

Version under control

Auto-update is turned off: the panel controls the Claude Code version, and you update it with a button.

06

Start with the claude command

In a workspace Claude Code starts with the claude command — in a persistent tmux session that survives a dropped connection and a closed laptop.

02 — connect

Four steps to Claude Code

From installing the panel to your first request to Claude Code.

1

Install the panel

Install BeAdmin on your server by following the guide — the module and the workspaces are set up in the panel from there.

2

Install the module and Claude Code

Install the module in the panel, then add the AI provider Claude Code: it comes from Anthropic’s official repository.

3

Create a workspace

Add an SSH key and an Anthropic API key from the Anthropic Console: a shared one for the server or one just for this workspace.

4

Connect and run claude

Copy the ready-made connection string from the panel and run it in your terminal — you are in a tmux session. Type claude and get to work.

03 — use cases

What you can do with an agent on a server

From a solo developer to a team: everyone gets a workspace of their own.

From any device

The agent session lives on the server, not on your computer: connect from any device that has an SSH client and your key.

Long-running tasks

Hand the agent a big task and close the laptop: the tmux session keeps running on the server, and you can come back any time.

Teams

A separate workspace for each developer: their own user, their own SSH keys and their own session.

A server in another country

If your AI provider is unavailable in your country, set up the agent on a BeAdmin server where it is available and work with it remotely over SSH.

04 — pricing

Estimate the cost of your workspaces

The price depends on the number of workspaces and AI providers. The longer the billing period, the bigger the discount.

3

From 1 to 100 per server. The first workspace is free.

AI providers per server

From one to three AI providers: Claude Code, Codex and Grok Build.

The more workspaces you have, the cheaper each additional one gets.

Without a licence you get one workspace and one AI provider. More workspaces and providers need a licence.

The price covers workspaces and AI providers. The API key is your own: we don’t sell tokens.

Frequently asked questions

A quick look at Claude Code on BeAdmin: subscription, key, updates, security and price.

No, and it wouldn’t work: Claude Code runs only on an Anthropic API key. Signing in with a Claude Pro or Max subscription is not supported.

You issue it in the Anthropic Console. Then add the key in the panel: a shared one for the server or a separate one for a workspace. We don’t sell tokens. Details are in the article “Provider API keys”.

Auto-update is turned off: the panel controls the version, and you update Claude Code with a button in the panel. Details are in the article “Managing the module”.

Yes. Claude Code runs in a sandbox and won’t start without one. A workspace user has no access to the sites on this server, and the sandbox settings come from the panel — the workspace cannot override them.

One workspace and one AI provider, such as Claude Code, are free, no licence needed. More workspaces and providers need a licence; the calculator above shows the price. We don’t sell tokens: access to the models runs on your own API key.
